TITLE: MAKING PEACE WITH YOUR FATHER
AUTHOR: DAVID STOOP, PH.D.
PUBLISHER: REGAL BOOKS
This book could not have come at a better time as is the issue of ‘fatherlessness’ which has commendably decreased. Like it or not, everybody has a father, forget societal declarations that fathers are not necessary. If a child is being brought up by a single mother, it is always good for him to get attached to his paternal roots to avoid being bit at by feelings of wanting to know and belong somewhere. Part of knowing oneself is understanding the feelings you have inside, feelings of wanting to trace your ancestry. Knowing your origins is important as this can help you make decisions that are comforting and filled with happiness as you are growing up.
You might discover that you have longings for a father, this does not necessarily mean that you are alone and in isolation as this kind of longing is a universal phenomenon. David Stoop’s Making Peace With Your Father talks about how fulfilling it is to actually be at peace with your father. Even if he has never been there, a father’s presence will always be felt in a home, thus the adage – ‘like father like son’ which means that an offspring’s character or behavior can be expected to resemble that of his father. Reading this book will enlighten you with eleven steps on how to move towards forgiveness and making peace with your father for the hurt, loneliness and difficulties he has put you through. You will discover the meaning of belonging and feeling whole. ENDS
