THE PATRIARCHÔÇÖS FAMILY

Author : Pako Lebanna

TITLE: THE PATRIARCH’S FAMILY

PUBLISHER: FRIESEN PRESS

AUTHOR: ESFANDIAR GHODRATI

This is a debut effort by the 57 year old author, who fled his native Iran ostensibly for religious persecution, having lived in the Islamist state while being a member of the Baha’I faith, before settling in Canada and Botswana, where he runs his businesses. Ghodrati wrote the Patriarch’s Family, a mystery tale about a Detective Pagewood’s efforts to solve a case involving the abduction of three children.

While a close-knit family is torn apart, the author follows John Culman’s attempts to solve his family’s situation. The author uses mystery as a key component of the tale and is thus able to draw the attention of the reader for long spells of the 257-page book.

Set in New York, it is a book that is very accessible to any reader, given that it is written by a first time writer who used uncomplicated, yet literally astute language.

Ghodrati’s writing style makes the tale even more interesting, as the suspense

from one chapter, follows into the next seamlessly. While the book contains the horror of

murder and family problems but love, hope and family values are introduced, meaning that the story while packed with intrigue, is still suitable to a broad readership across all ages. The Patriarch’s Family is worth purchasing for people who love fiction

that is filled with suspense and drama, as it is a well laid out literary work. During the book launch, Ghodrati said that given the fact that he wrote the book using international publishers (the book was published in Canada), it only made sense that the story be set in a place familiar to the immediate readership of the publishers. However, being a resident of Botswana, the founder of New Era College said he could in future write books set in the country, a welcome idea given the quality of his first work of fiction. ENDS
