Xenophobia can be a big hindrance to the growth and development of the human mind. It is such an eye-raiser how some people still classify others with colour, race, age, religion and or sexuality!. Sometimes a person can shunanother because he is of a different nationality, only to find out later that, that very person was a heaven sent. Ditaola di ole makgolela, mpuru o faretswe, hey! Things fall apart, the title of this movie says it all; Diole Makgolela. This movie is one of Thomson Makota’s ver y best creations. Malebogo ( Kefilwe Selelo ) fell in love with her friend and employer Tatenda (Thomson Makota ).

They were so happy together and the uncles from both sides loved and blessed their union. Mma Lebo ( Boemo Marothodi ) who is Malebogo’s mother, with her typical Mongwaketse woman expressions, could not spare the Zimbabwean Tatenda and his uncle Sekuru ( Amen Mpundu ) the shame of going back empty handed without a makoti. The Zimbabweans did not despair and kept going back to Mma Lebo for her daughter’s hand in marriage, in vain. Malebogo ended up sacrificing her love for her man to satisfy her mother’s wish of not marrying a “mokwerekwere”. Malebogo was never happy after that and was too late to re-think about getting back with the man of her dreams. These are some of the issues that most of us take for granted but are very crucial to learn and understand them.
