Botswana dance serve as a national pride and identity. What makes Tswana dance unique and special on it`s own way is the styles used to depict various events and moods. Clapping of hands, leg rattles, whistles and the melodies of songs in different Tswana tribes-languages make up special percussions that reveal joy, pain, games and rituals like healing, praying for rain and thanksgiving ceremony after harvest. Pina Ya Setswana is a DVD produced by TM Pictures under the direction of Eunice Wadikonyana, Gerald Malebe as the director of photography, Gaolape Basuhi as the production and group coordinator. There are also other people involved in the making of this undying treat, that are worth mentioning. Credit goes to all the crew members and those who had a part to play in the making of this master-piece.  All dance-songs have been adapted from folklore tunes from different areas of Botswana. If you want to learn more and feast your eyes with the goodies in offer, watch Mogwana Traditional Dance Group giving you Borankana, Mokomoto, Setapa, Phathisi, Tsutsube and other types of dances.
The songs which caught my eye is Nqboku Xlhaie, performed by males only. Nqboku Xlhaie talks about the story of a group of young men who have fallen inlove with one girl whom they have to compete for. The oher one is called Khoba and both songs and their dances are different versions of Tsutsube dance. This DVD is edutaining, a must have indeedl.
