…..Let’s finish off right…. This Christmas!
Author : Otshidile Onkabetse
It`s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Shopping malls have already set up their lights and Christmas trees. Early family shopping sprees are ongoing and I`m writing about Christmas! And well, once again some people are revisiting that checklist they drafted at the beginning of the year; blowing off the dust that has accumulated on it, and feeling bad or happily checking the last item on the list?
Where do you fall? Whatever the case and whatever this year had for you, some might have made it to the finishing line in their success, some fall short, some fell and never got up again. We bid farewell to fallen heroes on their own right, we still stand.
Let us finish off this year in style. Celebrate your life, and the goodness of God throughout the year. You may have had your ‘unfair` share of troubles, but yet you live, which is a sighn that He still kept you, even though you thought God was afar off, He was closer than what you felt.
He may have decided to allow you to experience those hardhips, not for your shame, or not because He loves you less, no, all because He is preparing you for the best, and we all know that even Gold and diamond both have to go through a refining and perfecting process, you and I are no different.
Let us finish off the year in style, you may have hurt people or you may have been hurt by people. Your portion in life is not to go around carry resentment or a baggage of anger and strife, no! You are worth more than that, and those who may have casued you to be bitter and resentful, well they are not worth your time, so stop living an ungrateful and miserable life all because you have a grudge or someone hurt you, stole from you, or robbed you. Claim your joy back this festive. Learn to apologise.
Get bitterness, anger and pride out of your system. This is toxic waste! Learn to forgive and witht trime you may learn to forget.
It is the season to be jolly, to appreciate. Do not carry baggage into the future of 2014. You have a few more weeks to go. You owe it to yourself to finish off right. If you choose to complain about this and that, well it is your life and no one is going to make it any better for you if you do not try.
It is really up to you.
This month of December is a period where Christians Celebrate the Birth of Jesus. This birth brought salvation in all its Glory and with that we celebrate. Most roads will be leading to our homes and villages countrywide and there will be a lot of food and beverages (re a itse) and there will be parties, presents and money galore. But onec again on the other side, we have those who cannot celebrate in the same style.
Some do not have goats and cows to slaughter. They do not have jobs and money to feed their families or dress them in fancy clothes.
For some, Christmas is a brutal reality of isolation and they do not understand the hype around it. Some are in hospital, some heavy laden with all manners of lifes troubles. Let us remember them in prayer.
Let us extend a helping hand this Christmas to our neighbours, fellow citizens. You do not have to do it to make yourself better. Just know that it could have been you but by Gods Grace, not by your own effort, you are who you are and have what you have.
My fellow loyal reality hub readers, it has been a joy speaking and hearing from you throughout this year. You have been a great inspiration in every regard. I wish you a blessed and beautiful festive season.
And may Christmas cease to be an event which we celebrate annually, but a daily experience as we not only seek to love God and honour Him, but to love one another regardless of our differences and pasts. ENDS
