OXY
The only real way to ensure that popular genres advance and attempt to bring something new to the largest table of all is when one of the upcoming stars brings and embraces change and tries to pull Setswana culture into the modern era. This isn`t a new theory and it isn`t one that hasn`t already been attempted in recent years, Oxy is one artist who puts effort in his work as evident in this DVD. He deserves more credits for a well done music offering which can entertain us for a long time.
OUNAH
Jesu O Lokile is 2013 BOMU Awards nominee Ounah`s most ambitious recorded DVD to date and when the music starts it is relatively clear to see that this is also his most appealing and thematical musical DVD. His voice is consistently strong and his powerful delivery only heightens the seriousness of Ounah`s lyricism. The Mahalapye born - Onalenna ‘Ounah` Keitseope leaves the sugar coating to his pop rivals, tackling his fears and insecurities in his songs, addressing the anxieties of the difference between living an earthly life not giving yourself to God. Ounah doesn`t let his passion for the grace of God go without mention.
FINALE
The incredible Finale has brought about the track TAGI which is doing well in radios. The final result of making a video for this particular song is pleasing the hip-hop genre crowd more. After all, Finale is one of the seasoned pros who knows how to light up the pyrotechnics, glide into interwoven melody lines, or restrain his lyrics to mother earth where his fans can eat from his palm.
PK MAADA
PK Maada has not failed to bring an excitingly different meal to the table with his Segametsi music video. Maada, together with the amazing Sabade whom he features in his song, is a shining example of how mainstream experimentation can go ever so right. It isn`t exactly the most daring thing you will see in locally produced videos but it does happen to be one of the few DVDs released that takes itself seriously and doesn`t end up being laughable. It is fitting that PK Maada worked with Sabade on some of his songs. The lighting, colour coordination, the models and action, the pans of the camera to the final edit is superb. ENDS
