Blame Game and Greediness
After talking a lot about crisis in the last issue it would not be fair not to say something about the blame game. Kemang Motswana yo o sa tshabeng boloi? Many of us blame Baloi for our problems.
The prevailing tendency is to blame somebody or something. Whose fault is it? The fact of the matter is that there is no one person that you can blame.
When you are not progressing in life you want to blame someone. You claim that people do not love you that are why you are not progressing in life. You cattle are not increasing because mongwe o tsere boloko mo sakeng la gago. You want to counter attack and hold someone responsible for you dilemma. Lets not waist time and energy on that especially this very days.
When the United States congress asked a spokesman for the Federal Reserve what caused this meltdown., his answer contained a very biblical word: greed.
He said that when the people in charge become greedy, they plant the seeds for collapse of the very economic system they think they can use to their advantage.
What is greed? Greed is the mismanagement of resources for personal benefit, coupled with disregard for the benefit of others. Greed is when you want more than you need at the expense of everybody else. Greed is when you want more than you need at the expense of everybody else. Greedy people don`t care who gets hurt. They just go after whatever they want and do not concern themselves with other people.
They see an opportunity to acquire more money, greater status or further pleasures and they charge ahead in pursuit of their selfish goals, regardless of how many people they have to trample on in the process. Greed walks hand –in-hand with partners such as malice, deceit, theft, envy, evil thoughts, lewdness, adultery, slander, arrogance, murder and all kinds of folly (read Mark7: 21-22)
The reason these evils travel together is because all of them originate in the sinful hearts of human beings. Read Luke 12; 15-21 Do not let your own financial uncertainty make you do something rash and foolish. Do not do something dishonest. Do not go the way of the world. Trust God He will warn you heart starts to brew up some form of malice, deceit, theft, envy, and evil thoughts etc When Jesus said “watch out,” He meant that it could happen to you, especially if you do not even know you`re greedy.
Many times by default we let greed rule our decisions. Down the road, their greedy decisions result in crisis in a crisis, not only do other people get hurt, often the greedy ones do, too.
When things reach the crisis point, there is only one way out, and it has to come through some kind of shift or change. Times of crisis usually reveal how well or how poorly we have managed our resource. Now you will be forced to change your ways, hopefully for the better. This ‘silver lining of crisis.
Crisis always forces development. It creates the opportunity for creativity. It provides a powerful motivation to change. You have to invent new ways to deal with old problems
You have to push aside your regrets about the past and your instinct to be angry and to blame somebody else for the pickle you are in.
In order not only to survive but also to thrive, you must do something new.
Here in Botswana, with so much our national economy dependent upon diamond, we have to diversify. That does not mean that somebody else have to diversify. That means you and I have to. This economic crisis shakes the foundations of what you thought was traditionally sound. You need to look around you and see what kinds of needs are not met. Can you start a business to meet those needs?
The need to find new ways and develop new products and services is imperative in the midst of crisis. What kind of resources do you already have?
Without being greedy and hard-hearted, you can find a way to do an honest day`s work and provide for your family.
The word crisis in Japanese and Chinese are the same as the word opportunity.
You wouldn`t think that those two words have anything in common until you realize that the seeming defeat inherent in every crisis holds the keys to an unanticipated victory.
When the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima at the end of the world war2, it obliterated the city. Over hundred thousand people were killed.
The building were leveled, the soil was poisoned. But the Japanese took hold of their hands that reached out to help them, and they worked day and night to rebuild their city an their country.
Now they are number one in so many categories: their cards, their electronics and a lot more. So long see you next month
