These Roads of Hope...
By Zibisani Gombani
I have walked...
Walked and walked some more
Many a mile covered, to discover.
Even when I have not fully recovered
I must get a move on.
I am thinking large even my patch have worn out.
I am living on the highways that lead somewhere
It is those places we seek,
Even our musings are not enough to deter those urges
There is that calling that never ceases.
I see as I wander past winding tracks.
I wonder about what has become of all the others
That now lies by the wayside
Noticed alright but ignored nonetheless.
It is the path we follow
It sticks to the narrow when the lanes are that wide.
There is a world out; beckoning
What do I tell of all that got left behind?
When the journey forward never ceases...
Who do I turn to?
When all I see around me are shadows lurking about...
It has been a long stroll when all else is fading fast
But I am still holding out for tomorrow.
Even nights are only fearful
When we pause to yawn and reminisce.
It is all that has now been swept away.
It is that it could never be; ever again.
These legs might have a say but it will be ignored.
Theirs is an alien language none of us are at ease with.
It is that we must keep on and up
It is not yet safe to rest.
It is not yet time to put away the motivation
When discovery is not all that have to be ticked off the unending list
These are the roads of hope that never fades.
