Dumela mmadi wa Kutlwano! Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new broom that will be sweeping the floor of your favourite magazine, taking over from the capable hands of former Editor, Sereki Mpitse.
It was under her stewardship that I was prepared for this exceptional role of editing the country’s oldest magazine. It’s a feat many rarely get to achieve! I have been with Kutlwano Magazine as Deputy Editor since October 2018. A full seven years! Whew! So trust me to do that, which you expect of your favourite magazine now as the Editor. Lets make it a great read and worth having in your collection.
In this edition, we celebrate John Kebinatshipi, the surviving parent of our 400m World Champion, Collen Busang Kebinatshipi. His story is inspirational to many fathers out there, who have faced the painful reality of raising a boy child without its biological mother. Read the story and get inspired.
On a somber note, we remember probably the greatest music artiste to ever walk on Botswana soil, Atasaone Molemogi, popularly known as ATI. His life was cut short due to drugs. Having been such a superstar, we recall a time when our Editorial Team feared using him as a cover of the magazine.
We also share a poster of a great colleague, an award winning photographer, Godfrey ‘Goddy’ Mpuse of Kutlwano Magazine and DailyNews who died on November 15. He was such an exceptional talent that raked in award after award.
The magazine also takes you through the tombstone unveiling ceremony of the country’s second President, Sir Ketumile Masire and his wife First Lady Olebile.
There is also a story of a young man who had to pull himself out of the doldrums when his life seemed to be destined for ruin! It is an inspiring story to our youth who are struggling out there with substance addiction.
Please, immerse yourself and enjoy the edition, our last in a year that shook us all. Enjoy the festives! ENDS
