QUESTION

She wants nothing to do with me

Mmamalome: I am a young man aged 22 years. My girlfriend broke up with me when I got arrested last year. She told me that she had lost feelings for me because of my being arrested. But the problem is that I had nothing to do with this offence but she does not believe me when I tell her this. Mmamalome please help me. I want this girl to be my future wife because I really love her.

Setlogolo:  Mmamalome understands your situation and really sympathises with you. Because love is such a strong emotion, it is sad that you find yourself in a predicament in which the person your heart longs for is rejecting you. Being in prison also makes your situation a bit difficult as it limits both your communication avenues and robs you of the opportunity to prove your undying love for this young woman in other ways. I, however, would advise you to use your detention as an opportunity to introspect; to look deeply into your relationship and try to find out if it indeed was founded on true love. I believe if this young woman truly loved you, she would not turn her back on you at the earliest opportunity. ENDS
